Speaker Bio

Karni is a former Paralympic swimmer and world record holder, public speaker, TV and radio presenter, mum and clinical social worker. Born with a rare neuromuscular wasting disease, Karni defied all odds and broke her first world record at just 14. She went on to compete at the 1996 and 2000 Paralympic games, winning medals at both, and captained the Australian Paralympic swim team in 2000. Karni is an ambassador for various Australian charities, and a recipient of the Pride of Australia medal.
