Finalist Details
The PINK program (Play, Interact, Network, Kick) is a female all-abilities football initiative founded over a decade ago by former Matildas goalkeeper, Kim Sch'fer. PINK welcomes players of all abilities, promoting inclusivity and social connections through football. PINK provides mentoring opportunities, special events such as the Mother's Day Cup and offers a support network through WhatsApp and Facebook.
"PINK includes both players with and without disability, fostering a deeper understanding of inclusion. The program has had a positive impact on ""mainstream"" players, enhancing their perspective on diversity and inclusion. PINK also connects families, allowing parents to share resources and information."
PINK runs for 12 weeks on Sunday mornings and is led by eight dedicated female volunteer coaches. The program has created a thriving community centred around inclusion, sport and mutual support.
